Just say the name and the first thing people think is: "Paradise!" If you have visited any of the islands that make up Hawaii, you understand why. With its dramatic mountains, sculpted with deep green grooves by Mother Nature, waterfalls that seem to pop out of nowhere after a heavy rain, black lava rock that gives way to white sugary sand that in turn leads to the bluest, crystal clear water you have ever seen, hot red lava oozing and dripping into cobalt seas that emit giant white plumes upon contact, and its wide variety of birds, fish and fauna - Hawaii has it all. As a landscape photographer, my head was on a swivel on my recent trip to Oahu. The ocean and its perfect surfing waves would mesmerize me and then I would glance the other way and the mountains with clouds crawling down the sides and through the valleys would take my breath away. I must have shot over 1000 photos. Most of them are sunrise photography. I have been working hard to cull and edit the best landscape images from Hawaii, but I admit - I am having a hard time deciding on which ones to turn into fine art prints. And on what medium? Fine art metal prints to showcase the vibrant colors? Or giant gallery wrapped canvases that make the viewer feel as if they are right there, feeling the warm breeze and smelling the plumeria in the air? I think I'll do a little bit of both. And maybe we can have a Luau at the Gallery one day soon to show off my Hawaiian photography creations?
Here is a sneak peek of the fine art landscape photography from my amazing trip to Hawaii. Mahalo!
